about
My name is Corey Pelton. I’m a pastor in the Presbyterian Church in America. I am currently the director of Rural Church Development and the director of Rural Church Planting for Mission to North America. My wife, Holly, and I moved to the north Georgia mountains in January 2022 after years of pastoring throughout the South. We both grew up in East Tennessee and are University of Tennessee alum. We spent 8 years in Jackson, MS where I attended seminary and worked with Reformed University Fellowship at Belhaven College. In 2002 we moved to Hot Springs, AR to organize a mission church into a fully organized church. After pastoring there for 8 years, we were called to Travelers Rest, SC to pastor Redeemer Presbyterian Church. 2019 took us to Baton Rouge, LA where I assisted South Baton Rouge Presbyterian Church.
We have three grown children: Miller, Maggie, and Miles.
Please contact me if you desire pastoral coaching or if your church or leadership would like a workshop to dream about reaching your local community.
core Values
Fearless Pursuit
Biblical and healthy world and life view. Transformation rather than isolation. Be for the communities and inhabitants, not isolate from them. God sent Jesus, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him (John 3:17). The grace of Jesus can be for the Pharisee as well as the tax collector.
Longterm Presence
Consistent proximity with longevity in the places and with the people of rural and small town communities.
Earned Trust
Building trust, over time, with a skeptical and reluctant culture. “I’m for you, not against you.”
Consistent Blessing
Listening for opportunities to speak blessing over people demonstrating their value as image-bearers of God.
